St. Joseph’s Community College (SJCC) is an enterprise of the Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society and is part of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions. It was established as a response to the plight of the semi-educated and school drop-out youth in the slums of Bangalore and in the remote parts of Karnataka struggling to gain some livelihood.
St. Joseph’s Community College was started in 2005 at the premises of Ashirvad, Bangalore. It had 33 students in the first batch who on completion of the course were absorbed in the hospitality sector. The success of those students aroused the interest of others and the next batches were started consecutively. Due to lack of space and other facilities it was felt apt to shift the college to St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions premises in July 2006. As a result SJCC received a new extension building with complete modern amenities on the second floor of the old St. Joseph’s school building. In 2010, looking at the progress of St. Joseph’s Community College, IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) came forward to certify all our courses. In 2013 University Grants Commission (UGC) approved two of our community college courses under St. Joseph’s Evening College (Autonomous).

At present Community College runs UGC approved diploma courses, Management approved diploma courses and short term courses.
In 2015 St. Joseph’s Community college completed ten years of its existence, In view of its decennial celebration was held in January 2015. A national level seminar, sports and cultural fest called ‘WAVES’ and decennial programme was conducted. During the occasion a college magazine called ‘UJWALA’ was released.
So far St. Joseph’s Community College has trained over 1,600 students. It has trained students in various sector skills or trades as well as Hospitality, Beauty and wellness, IT/ITES, Printing, Electrical, Electronics, Multimedia, Nursing Assistant and communication technology. We have had students from diffrent parts of Karnataka and beyond.
